Website Pricing
Prices for websites can vary as much as the websites themselves.
I feel that the fairest approach is to quote on each and every website as a unique project.
My pricing is based on the following factors.
- Are you supplying the text or do you require a copy writer?
- Are you supplying images, logos etc?
- How many pages in the website?
- Approximate number of images?
- Do all pages share a common layout or does it vary?
- How many forms are on the site?
- How much editing will you need to do to keep the site current?
Do you require a copy writer?
The text on the page can be submitted to me as paragraphs or in point form.
The text on a website should be kept brief and to the point.
Reading a web page is more work for your eyes than printed material.
Often a professional copy writer can describe your product or service much better than an untrained writer.
Are you supplying images, logos etc?
Websites benefit greatly from the addition of images and many companies require the use of a company logo
If you are supplying the images and logo then this can reduce the cost
If images need to be scanned this too will add to the cost.
How many pages in the website?
Obviously the more pages in a website the more work is required to create these pages and additional load is placed on the server.
Small sites will be from 1 - 8 pages medium sites 8 - 25 pages large sites exceed 25 pages
Approximate number of images
Each image generally needs to be resized and sometimes will require cropping or colour correction
Each image will have to be placed on the page so more images becomes a pricing factor
Do the pages share a common layout
Most modern websites will have a consistent look and layout.
If it is a requirement to have differnt layouts for different pages this can add to the cost.
A consistent layout helps save time because each page will be based on a template.
How many input forms are on the site
HTML forms are a lot of work and each form requires backend processing.
For example, the contact form on this site requires the 'form' a confirmation message and backend processing, in this case emailing Site-Byte Web Design.
How much editing will you need to do
The amount of editing you will want to do to maintain your site will factor in because the system has to be designed so that editing is safe and easy to do.
